Pastor Phil of Calvary Chapel normally teaches the Bible verse-by-verse, but we are taking a topical approach to The Book of Galatians. Today we are in Part 25 of "Liberty From Law".
As Pastor Phil moves through Chapter 4 of Galatians, today we see Paul addressing the believers who seem bent on leaning back on the laws they previously observed, including in some cases the principles of the Law and the world. Does salvation come by the days of the week that we keep, or the religious rites that we observe? Certainly not. Paul was trying to show the Galatians (and us) that Jesus came to set us free, and why put yourself under the bondage of the Law? Our salvation comes from a relationship with The Lord, and His grace.
Paul had travelled through Asia Minor, and when he arrived in Galatia he realized they had already fallen away from the teachings of the Gospel of grace. The Judaizers were a group of Jews who tried to put the Church back under the Law by telling people it was necessary for them to keep the Law of Moses before exercising faith in Jesus for salvation. Jesus came to set us free from sin and the Law...
